BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) - A Bridgeport man has been arraigned on a murder charge stemming from a fight on a highway ramp in that city.

Superior Court Judge Robin Pavia on Wednesday set bond at $250,000 for 36-year-old Tony Espinal, according to the Connecticut Post.

Espinal has been accused of fatally stabbing 26-year-old Bryant Kelly of Bridgeport during a fight last Thursday on an off-ramp from Route 8 southbound.

Kelly’s girlfriend, an angry Leandra Langston, appeared at the court on Wednesday with members of Kelly’s family. She told the Connecticut Post her daughter now has to spend Christmas without her father. She asked, “And because of what? Some road rage?”

During the hearing, Espinal’s lawyer, John Gulash, said his client acted in self-defense and had no intention to kill anyone.
