ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) - Deputies say a man and a woman have been found shot on the side of Interstate 85 in Anderson County with no car near them.

Investigators say someone called 911 to report the two people on the side of southbound I-85 near mile marker 16 around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Deputies say 44-year-old James Dobson II of Easley and 43-year-old Mary Fowler of Greenville were both taken to the hospital. Their conditions have not been released.

Authorities say they don’t know where the victims were going or how they ended up on the side of the busy interstate on Christmas Eve.

Deputies think they were shot at the same place they were found.
