PITTSFILED, Mass. (AP) - An 18-year-old Pittsfield man has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in connection with a shooting last month that led to the death of a man a day later.

Peter Campbell, already in jail facing charges connected to what police say was a drug-related shooting inside a vehicle in the parking lot of a city supermarket, was held without bail at his arraignment Tuesday.

Police say Campbell shot 29-year-old Anthony Gamache, of Goshen, in the leg during a botched robbery on Nov. 18.

Gamache died the following day. The medical examiner determined that he died from a blood clot caused by the gunshot wound.

Campbell told police the gun accidentally discharged during a struggle inside the vehicle.

Campbell’s lawyer tells The Berkshire Eagle (https://bit.ly/1xghagb ) he is awaiting autopsy results.
