RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Forecasters say a tornado touched down in New Hanover County during a wet and stormy Christmas Eve across North Carolina.

The National Weather Service said the tornado touched down around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday north of Wilmington near Interstate 140. It had winds of about 105 mph and damaged a home, shed and trees over its quarter-mile path.

Authorities say one person was injured by broken, flying glass.

Across the rest of the state, there was heavy rains and some flooding, but no other major problems were reported.

The rain should move out before daybreak on Christmas Day, with sunny skies finally returning.
