MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos has announced the appointment of Chris Winters as Deputy secretary of state. Winters has worked in the secretary of state’s office for 18 years, the last nine as director of the Office of Professional Regulation.

Condos says his connection to Winters goes back to Condos’ time as chairman of the Government Operations Committee in the state Senate, when Winters worked with the committee.

Meanwhile, Colin Benjamin, board counsel for the Office of Professional Regulation, moves up to replace Winters as its director.

Winters replaces Brian Leven, who had served as deputy secretary of state for 12 years.
