PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The girlfriend of a woman killed in Providence earlier this month has been charged with murder.

Sendra J. Beauregard is accused of shooting Pamela Donahue, who was found unresponsive by her roommate in their apartment Dec. 2.

Police initially thought Donahue had overdosed, but emergency medical technicians found a gunshot wound after the 50-year-old Donahue was taken to the hospital. Her death was ruled the city’s 19th homicide of the year.

Police say the Donahue’s roommate told investigators the couple had been arguing for two weeks.

The 42-year-old Beauregard was arraigned Tuesday and ordered held without bail. It was not known Wednesday morning if she’s represented by a lawyer.
