FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) - Three coins commemorating the 225th anniversary of the U.S. Marshals Service will go on sale next month.

The Marshals Service says the coins, including a gold $5 coin, a silver dollar coin and a copper-nickel clad half dollar coin, will be available for purchase in limited quantities beginning Jan. 29. The designs for the coins were unveiled in July.

The Southwest Times Record reports (https://bit.ly/16TEbtN ) crews broke ground in Fort Smith in September on a $50 million U.S. Marshals Museum, which is expected to open in 2017. The museum is set to receive a maximum of $5 million from the sale of the commemorative coins.

Museum President and CEO Jim Dunn says the museum will benefit from the sale of the coins as the prices of gold and silver fall.
