DENVER (AP) - Transportation officials are reminding motorists to expect heavy traffic in many areas of the state over the next couple of weekends.

According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, travel typically increases on the Interstate 70 corridor after Christmas as people head to the mountains for skiing.

Rod Mead with the Colorado Traffic Management Center says that last year there was a slight increase in eastbound traffic the day after Christmas but a significant increase in westbound traffic.
