SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - South Burlington Police say they’ve nabbed a man they believe robbed five businesses.

Police were called to a South Burlington store at 1:30 Wednesday morning after a report of a robbery. The suspect had waved a knife at the clerk while demanding money. He then fled.

Residents described the suspect’s car and police attempted to pull over the driver a short time later but he took off. Police used spike strips to stop the car and arrest 26-year-old Matthew Cobb of Grand Isle and 20-year-old Rebecca Robair of Swanton.

They were charged with assault and robbery. Police believe Cobb pulled off four other robberies since Dec. 9 in Milton, Winooski and South Burlington.

It could not immediately be learned if Robair and Cobb had lawyers.
