SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) - Some residents in Surprise are not happy about plans by Arizona Public Service to erect a power line through their neighborhood.

There were no houses in the community near Loop 303 and Cactus Road when regulators approved the power-line route nearly 10 years ago, and many residents tell the Arizona Republic (https://bit.ly/1x5RroH ) they weren’t properly informed about the project before buying a home.

The Arizona Corporation Commission approved the route after an extensive public outreach effort that included Surprise, Maricopa County, Luke Air Force Base and others who would be affected.

Some residents are trying to stop the project, or at least force changes.

It’s the latest skirmish to erupt as people from Peoria to Goodyear to Buckeye have sought, sometimes successfully, to move power lines away from their neighborhoods.
