NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - North Little Rock police say a pair of killings on Christmas Eve are unrelated.

Officers responded to fatal shootings less than an hour apart. One man died in the Shorter College Gardens housing complex late Wednesday night, then officers responded to another fatal shooting near a motel a mile away.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette newspaper reported Friday (https://bit.ly/1CW4rhF ) the deaths were not related.

Police spokesman Sgt. Brian Dedrick said no arrests were made.

One resident of the housing complex told the newspaper that he heard four or five gunshots just after 10 p.m. Police said that less than an hour later, someone called from a home a mile away to say there was a gunshot victim there.

North Little Rock has had 10 homicides this year. Last year there were 13.
