SNELLVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Some residents of a suburban Atlanta apartment complex were displaced after a fire on Christmas Day.

Gwinnett County fire officials say the blaze began Thursday afternoon, in a third-floor unit of the Snellville complex. They said no one was inside at the time, and everyone in the complex got out safely.

Officials say the blaze caused heavy damage to the apartment, and five other nearby units sustained smoke and water damage due to the fire and efforts to fight it.

Officials say residents in a total of 10 units were temporarily displaced due to the power being cut, which was done as a precautionary measure.

Gwinnett County fire officials say the cause, which remained under investigation, is believed to have been accidental.
