MILWAUKEE (AP) - Supporters of a man shot and killed by a Milwaukee police officer are planning a rally in Chicago with the Rainbow PUSH Coalition.

Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm announced his decision Monday not to charge former officer Christopher Manney with any criminal wrongdoing in the death of 31-year-old Dontre Hamilton in April in a downtown park. Chisholm said Manney acted in self-defense.

Hamilton’s family has said Hamilton suffered from schizophrenia. Police Chief Edward Flynn fired Manney in October, saying Manney ignored department policy and treated Hamilton as a criminal by frisking him.

U.S. Attorney James Santelle also announced this week that federal investigators will look into the shooting.

The rally is Saturday. The Rev. Jesse Jackson formed Rainbow PUSH coalition.
