ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The latest blast of winter to hit New Mexico has brought with it more snow and frigid temperatures.

A winter storm warning remained in effect for the northern mountains Friday, while a weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service for a large swath that stretch from Farmington to Clayton.

Highway crews reported icy and snow packed roads along Interstate 40 in eastern New Mexico as well as Interstate 25 in the Las Vegas area. Roads were also snow packed and icy in spots from Silver City to Lordsburg.

State transportation officials were urging travelers to slow down and to watch for plows and salt and sand spreaders.

In Ruidoso, state officials decided to close the local health official due to the snowy conditions.
