YORK, S.C. (AP) - In the small South Carolina town of York, Santa wears a blue uniform and drives a police cruiser.

The Herald of Rock Hill (https://bit.ly/1xQvMTa ) reports that Lt. Dale Edwards gave away $1,000 on Christmas Eve to people he pulled over in town. The money came from an anonymous donor who asked the department to give it out to let people know that the community supports its police.

One of the people Edwards gave a crisp $100 bill to on Wednesday was a woman who had spent her last $100 on chemotherapy treatments.

Edwards pulled another driver over who didn’t have his lights on in the misty rain. But instead of a ticket, that driver, too got a $100 bill.

In all, Edwards handed out ten $100 bills on Christmas Eve.
