RACINE, Wis. (AP) - Police have arrested a 31-year-old Racine man in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian dead.

Authorities said in a news release Friday they were called to a hit-and-run Thursday evening in Racine and found 45-year-old Robert Castaneda lying in the road. Castaneda later died at a nearby hospital.

The driver was arrested a few blocks away on suspicion of hit-and-run resulting in death, homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and bail jumping. Court records indicate the man was awaiting sentencing on a prior drug conviction.

A court commissioner set the man’s bail at $50,000 Friday afternoon, ordered him not to drink and to wear an alcohol monitoring device if he’s released. Prosecutors expect to file formal charges on Monday.

His attorney didn’t immediately return a message.
