BUFFALO, Minn. (AP) - A barn fire in central Minnesota has killed nine horses.
KSTP-TV (https://bit.ly/1D3tIq5 ) reports the fire was reported early Sunday at a horse ranch in Wright County. The barn was engulfed in flames when sheriff’s deputies arrived.
A 17-year-old boy who noticed the fire as he was driving by and stopped to help and the ranch manager were able to move some horses away from the burning barn. Both suffered smoke inhalation.
Ranch manager Ronald Winget says they were able to save four horses. Firefighters from Buffalo, Maple Lake and Monticello responded and were able to put out the fire before it spread to other buildings.
The owner of the ranch is in Egypt on vacation.
Deputies believe it was an electrical fire, but the cause is still under investigation.
