ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Bernalillo County deputies say they caught a man who shot and wounded a man who discovered his home being burglarized.

Sheriff’s Capt. Edward Mims says deputies were called to a southwest Albuquerque neighborhood Tuesday afternoon after residents saw two men they thought were looking for homes to burglarize. As deputies arrived, they learned of a shooting in the Valley Gardens neighborhood and found a man shot in the shoulder lying in the street.

Mims says the victim had come home with his fiancé and their child and found his front door kicked in. A man deputies later identified as 22-year-old Albert Jaramillo attacked him and a fight ensued that ended with the shooting.

An apparent accomplice fled in a vehicle. Anaya was caught by deputies as he ran away.
