BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota’s Game and Fish Department has closed the mountain lion hunting season in Zone 1, after the seventh big cat was killed.

Officials say three lions were killed Monday, filling the seven-cat quota in the zone that roughly encompasses the southwest and west central parts of the state.

There is no quota in Zone 2, which is the rest of the state. Lion hunting there is open through the end of March.
