RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Raleigh police believe they’ve found the remains of a 2-year-old reported missing on Christmas Eve, as his parents face charges in his death.

Multiple media outlets report police announced Monday their conclusion that remains found last week in a northern Wake County lake belong to Tristan Blue. Police caution, however, that more tests are needed.

The boy’s father, 31-year-old Steven Blue, is charged with murder. His mother appeared in court Monday on charges she hid facts about Tristan’s death and helped his father get rid of the body. Twenty-five-year-old Briana Dangerfield called 911 last Wednesday to report Tristan missing.

Police ended their search Christmas Day, and the remains were recovered from Beaver Dam Lake on Friday. Dangerfield was initially charged with child neglect but charges were added over the weekend.
