GEDDES, N.Y. (AP) - Police say an 89-year-old woman is hospitalized with serious injuries after she ran a red light near a suburban Syracuse shopping plaza and collided with a school bus carrying adults.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office says B.J. Herzog of Syracuse was leaving the Western Lights Shopping Plaza in the town of Geddes (GEH’-dehs) around 3 p.m. Tuesday when she failed to stop at a red light at the entrance.

Deputies say her car was broadsided by an A & E School bus. The impact forced the car into a pickup truck that had stopped in traffic.

Herzog is in Upstate University Hospital with serious injuries.

The bus driver suffered minor injuries. Two of the five adult passengers were treated at the scene before being taken to hospitals for evaluation.
