OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (AP) - Officials say an off-road natural surface bicycle trail will be created in Olive Branch City Park, the first of its kind in a municipality in DeSoto County.

The Commercial Appeal reports (https://bit.ly/1wJXUXt ) the Board of Aldermen last week agreed to allow North Mississippi Trail Alliance Inc., to create a mile-long trail in the park on Goodman Road. Alliance officials, who plan to begin work this month, hope the trail for beginner riders will foster support for the nonprofit organization’s efforts to establish trails throughout the county.

The Alliance formed about a year ago and is working with county and city governments in the region to create all kinds of trails for recreation.
