AMHERST, N.H. (AP) - Three duck hunters are recuperating after their canoe overturned in a New Hampshire lake, leaving them in near-freezing conditions for about half an hour.

Police in Amherst say the canoe overturned Sunday morning in the Souhegan River. The incident swept 49-year-old Jean Letarte of Milford downstream with the canoe and his equipment. His son and another boy managed to grab ahold of tree limbs; one retrieved a cellphone and called 911.

Police said they found Letarte about 200 yards downstream from the canoe port and helped him out of the water. The boys were found about 400 years father upstream and were removed.

All three were taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment.
