RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol says the driver of a car that struck and killed a man walking on Interstate 580 in Reno over the weekend is cooperating with investigators.

The patrol said in a statement Monday that neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have played a role in the accident.

Evan Grill told state troopers he was driving his red 2011 Honda Accord he was heading south in the left lane of I-580 near Mill Street when he struck the man about 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The victim was thrown into the inside shoulder of the interstate.

The patrol says Grill stopped to check on the man, called 911 and stayed on scene to assist in the investigation.

The patrol is asking anyone with additional information to call NHP at 775-689-4661.
