NEW YORK (AP) - A New York City science teacher has pleaded not guilty to inappropriately touching four elementary school girls in Brooklyn.

Omil Carrasquillo entered the plea at his arraignment Monday. He was released on $200,000 bail; he’s due back in court Feb. 6.

WABC-TV (https://7ny.tv/12izFCr ) says the alleged victims are ages 8 through 11. Authorities say he had earlier been accused of groping five other girls at the school, P.S. 249.

Authorities say the encounters occurred between 2013 and September of this year.

Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson says the defendant was “an alleged predator who surrounded himself with vulnerable victims.”

The Department of Education says Carrasquillo has been removed from the school.

His lawyer says his client was not a flight risk and would fight the allegations.
