NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (AP) - Federal, state and business leaders are celebrating now that 10,000 people work at the Quonset Business Park and its Port of Davisville.

The former naval air station and construction battalion base has been a focus of efforts to promote economic development in the area since 2005.

The business park on Monday recognized 32-year-old Justin Jay as its 10,000th employee. Jay works as a customer care representative at the wholesale insurance broker and administrator AmWINS Group Benefits.

Gov. Lincoln Chafee said he’d like to see the park get to 20,000 employees soon. Gov.-elect Gina Raimondo agreed it was an achievable goal.

Members of the congressional delegation and state legislative leaders also spoke.

The business park is home to almost 200 companies and the port is a top auto importer.
