CRYSTAL SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - Authorities say a 23-year-old man was found shot to death in woods near Crystal Springs over the weekend on land he rented and that the property owner was taken into custody in connection with the shooting.

The Clarion-Ledger reports (https://on.thec-l.com/1A9fBxw ) that the Copiah County sheriff identified the man shot to death as Joshua Ellis Tarver.

Sheriff Harold Jones said Tarver was found on rented property. The sheriff said Bill Parks, the property owner, was taken into custody in connection with the death. Tarver was renting on Parks’ land.

Jones said an argument between the two may have led to the shooting. The death is being investigated as a homicide.
