PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - Singing River Health System has postponed three upcoming town hall meetings on their pension plan, citing legal action filed Friday.

Richard Lucas, SRHS director of communications, said in a new release received by The Sun Herald (https://bit.ly/1vEbY3l ) that they must sort out the legal issues. He said they hope to resume the town halls as soon as possible.

Meeting for retirees in the plan were scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday.

On Friday, a chancery court judge prohibited the system from terminating its pension plan, saying employees and retirees could “suffer irreparable harm and damage” and be left without legal remedy if the plan were terminated.

Singing River stopped funding its share of the pension in 2010, after making a drastically reduced payment in 2009.
