MAPLE SHADE, N.J. (AP) - A Philadelphia man was charged Monday with hiding a woman’s body inside the trunk of a vehicle parked outside a hotel in southern New Jersey.

Jesus Garcia, 41, was charged with concealment of human remains and was in jail on $150,000 bail, Burlington County prosecutors said. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney.

The body was found outside the Quality Inn hotel in Maple Shade in a vehicle owned by a woman reported missing in Philadelphia on Sunday, police said.

Officer Tanya Little told Philly.com that the investigation started when a woman called police to report that her 38-year-old daughter was missing. Police said the woman’s vehicle was tracked through the OnStar system.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday, but no further information on the victim’s identity or the investigation was planned to be released Monday, said Joel Bewley, a spokesman for the Burlington County prosecutor’s office.

Garcia lives on the same block in Philadelphia as the home where the missing persons report came from, police and prosecutors said.

He was scheduled to appear in Superior Court in Mount Holly Tuesday morning.
