PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - Bronze statutes of three former South Dakota governors have been added to Trail of Governors in Pierre.

KCCR-AM reports that former Govs. George S. Mickelson, Peter Norbeck and Robert S. Vessey are the newest additions to the trail. The sculptures were installed Tuesday in the state’s capital city.

Mickelson’s statue shows the state’s 28th governor with an outstretched hand, big smile and suit coat slung over his shoulder.

Mickelson’s sister, Pat Adam of Pierre, and the governor’s son, David of Sioux Falls, saw the statue being installed Tuesday. Both tell the station that they liked the design.

The newest additions mean Pierre now has statues of nine former Governors. Each statue in the series costs about $68,000.
