MELBOURNE, Fla. (AP) - Health officials say a central Florida woman has died from complications associated with the flu.

Florida Today (https://on.flatoday.com/1Bwdqbg ) reports the 45-year-old Brevard County woman died Friday.

Brevard County’s health director Heidar Heshmati encourages people to get the flu vaccine.

The Florida Department of Health reaffirmed the vaccine’s efficacy in a news release, saying it remains the best protection from the flu. Last week U.S. health officials said this year’s vaccine may not be very effective.
