WASHINGTON (AP) - Mayor-elect Muriel Bowser has named an official in Alexandria, Virginia, as her pick for city administrator.

Bowser’s transition office said in an email Tuesday that she has selected 38-year-old Rashad M. Young to be city administrator. Young has been Alexandria city manager for three years.

Washington’s city administrator is responsible for the day-to-day management of district government, according to the department’s website.
