CHICAGO (AP) - Police say a Des Plaines woman has been charged after she lied about being stabbed while jogging through a forest preserve.

Veronica Klicka is charged with one count of felony disorderly conduct for filing a false police report. She told police she was stabbed in the abdomen by a man on Nov. 29 at Deer Grove East Forest Preserve near Palatine.

Police say they believe her story was fabricated and the wound was self-inflicted. They say Klicka made the story up because she was afraid she wasn’t supposed to possess any weapons while under court-ordered supervision for a DUI.

Klicka was released at a bond hearing Saturday and is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing Tuesday. It was not immediately clear if she has an attorney.
