LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A total of $97,500 was contributed to nine Arkansas nonprofit organizations in 2014 by the Heartland Foundation.

The foundation is the charitable outlet of Heartland Bank. It was created by the board of directors of Heartland Bank and bank employees nominated all of the organizations that received the foundation’s support.

The organizations included the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, which received $50,000. The contribution is the second of a 10-year commitment to provide $500,000 to support the Arkansas Children’s House. Terry and Walter Quinn of Little Rock, Heartland Bank’s majority shareholders, have also personally pledged a matching $50,000 each year for 10 years, bringing the total donation to $1 million.

In addition, the Children’s Protection Center received $20,000 and the Junior League of Little Rock received $4,000 for its Literacy Campaign Program.
