CHESTER, S.C. (AP) - A judge has stopped the bidding for construction of a new tire plant in Chester County after a company left out of the process sued.

The Herald of Rock Hill reported (https://bit.ly/1B2MGfv) that Circuit Judge Brian Gibbons issued an order earlier this month halting the bidding process for the Giti Tire plant.

Richardson Construction Co. of Columbia says it was unfairly excluded from submitting a bid on one of the largest economic development projects in Chester County in years.

County Supervisor Carlisle Roddy says officials are holding the five approved bids until the matter is resolved.

The case could delay the start of construction on the $560 million plant in Richburg that is expected to create 1,700 jobs.

Giti had hoped to break ground on the plant next month.
