BOLIVIA, N.C. (AP) - A Brunswick County man will serve life in prison without parole for the slaying of a man in Leland earlier this year.

Area media outlets report that 44-year-old James Ketchum was found guilty Monday by a Brunswick County jury of murder, burglary, robbery and being a felon in possession of a gun.

The charges stemmed from the shotgun slaying Jan. 6 of 33-year-old Jason Anderson in Anderson’s mobile home. Ketchum was also convicted of the armed robbery of a store in Leland the day before Anderson was killed.

The jury deliberated two and half hours before returning the verdict.
