UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) - A Maryland man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison in an armed carjacking in Prince George’s County.

County prosecutors said Tuesday that 27-year-old Travis Evans of Forestville received the lengthy sentence in court Friday.

State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks says in a news release that Evans received six decades in prison because he’s a repeat violent offender who poses a danger to society.

Prosecutors say on March 1, a man was cleaning out his car in his apartment complex parking lot when Evans walked up, pointed a gun at the man’s head, ordered him to the ground and then stole his car. Police were able to find the car soon after and arrested Evans after he jumped out of the moving car and ran away on foot.
