BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the identity of the 45-year-old California man who died in a rollover crash on an icy interstate in western North Dakota.

The Patrol on Tuesday identified the man as Stephen Benson, of Encinitas, California. He crashed around 6:30 a.m. Monday on Interstate 94, about six miles east of Dickinson.

Authorities say Benson’s pickup truck spun out of control, hit a guardrail and overturned on the icy and frost-covered interstate.

Benson was taken to a Dickinson hospital where he later died of his injuries.
