LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police have identified the officer who fatally shot a robbery suspect Sunday morning inside the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino.

Las Vegas police on Tuesday said Sean Beck fired the fatal shot. Beck has been with the department for nearly 16 years and assigned to the department’s career criminal division.

The 43-year-old officer is on routine paid leave while the shooting is reviewed.

Police have said the robbery suspect was shot after detectives tried to arrest him, used a Taser and the man reached toward his waist.

Police found a gun on the man who died at the scene near the hotel-casino’s guest elevators. Police said he had been sought in a string of casino robberies.

His name has not been released.

No one else was injured.
