VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - The driver arrested after a hit-and-run fatality in Vancouver has been identified by police as a 33-year-old Portland man, Matthew Saeed Purifoy.

He was jailed Monday for investigation of vehicular homicide in the death of a 57-year-old pedestrian, Anita Walters.

Purifoy was driving on Interstate 205 where he reportedly hit another car. Police say he left the freeway, hit and killed Walters, then crashed a short distance away.
