DETROIT (AP) - A misconduct hearing against a Detroit judge described as having paranoid delusions won’t stop, despite her sudden desire to resign.

District Judge Brenda Sanders’ mental health is being challenged by a watchdog agency, the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission.

A hearing on the allegations began Monday. Sanders’ attorney disclosed Tuesday that she wants to retire, but the hearing continued with more testimony.

Sanders isn’t attending.

She was on medical leave for months before the Michigan Supreme Court suspended her without pay in September. Investigators say she’s unable to do her job because of paranoid delusions.

Sanders was re-elected in November.
