SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A former employee at Medical X-Ray Center in Sioux Falls has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for embezzling $4.9 million.

KELO-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1AZKDJg ) 70-year-old Gerald Larson was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to embezzling from his former employer for nearly 15 years.

Medical X-Ray President Dr. Bradley Paulson says Larson’s actions “personally and financially hurt” the company and its employees because Larson was a trusted friend and colleague.

Larson’s attorney says his client has already paid the money back. He says Larson never lived a lavish lifestyle outside his means even with the stolen money.

Larson apologized to his wife, family and colleagues before his sentencing, saying he knew the relationships he damaged won’t be repaired.
