DECATUR, Ill. (AP) - Back in September someone cut down and stole the flag pole outside the Wilson & Taylor Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Decatur.

As of Sunday, it’s back.

According to the Herald & Review in Decatur (https://bit.ly/1s5gvfB ), the soldiers at the VFW post dedicated the new flag pole with a rifle salute from the Macon County Honor Guard.

Ivery Chambliss is Post 730’s quartermaster. He suspects the old flag pole was stolen for scrap. But finding the flag that was on the pole lying in the mud was a shock.

He called the flag’s treatment “an insult to all of us.”

The Free Runners Masonic Organization in Decatur paid for the replacement.
