EDWARSVILLE, Kan. (AP) - A suburban Kansas City man died when a tree he was cutting for firewood fell on top of him.

Edwardsville police have not released the name of the man who died on Monday.

Edwardsville Police Chief Mark Mathies said a neighbor discovered the man pinned under the large tree and called 911 Monday evening. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mathies told The Kansas City Star (https://bit.ly/1bJm0CV ) that the family that lived on the property had given the man permission to cut trees.
