CINCINNATI (AP) - Dogs will now fly, too, at Cincinnati’s popular Flying Pig Marathon.

Organizers of the 16-year-old race announced Wednesday that this year’s event will include a 2-mile run for dogs and their owners.

The IAMS Flying Fur run will be held on May 3 near the city’s Purple People Bridge along the Ohio River. The marathon and half-marathon will be the following day.

For every dog registered for the event, IAMS will donate one large bag of pet food to the SPCA of Cincinnati.

Registration for a pooch and his or her owner will be $30.

Last year, the Flying Pig attracted a record 33,852 participants for all the weekend events, with runners from all 50 states and 16 countries.
