GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - The second phase of the Kobe Pipeline project has been approved by Mesa County commissioners.

The permit allows construction of a buried water pipeline from the Colorado River to a proposed reservoir to be located in Garfield County.

The pipeline will begin west of De Beque and continue for 3 miles to carry water for the oil and gas industry.

According to KREX-TV (https://tinyurl.com/lt3yzw4 ), planners say the pipeline will reduce the number of water trucks and provide additional irrigation water along both sides of Roan Creek.

Planners are now trying to get approval from the federal Bureau of Land Management and Garfield County.
