SWEET HOME, Ore. (AP) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it’s using a dye to test a new fish facility under construction in Sweet Home and some of that green dye may be noticeable in the South Santiam River.

The agency says the dye will be released in early March, but an exact date hasn’t been set.

The corps plans to test the water-recirculation system of a fish facility by using a dye that simulates a solution used to treat for diseases and parasites.

The test will determine how effectively the solution spreads through the facility’s pool, and if it reaches the river.
