BUNNELL, Fla. (AP) - A Daytona Beach woman faces charges of aggravated battery after a family brawl over custody of a puppy.

The Daytona Beach News Journal (https://bit.ly/1djbSBd) reported on Sunday that eight people were involved in the fight that happened in a Daytona Beach neighborhood after a woman and her husband came to pick up a puppy from the woman’s mother.

According to an arrest report, the mother told her daughter to come back later because she wanted to spend more time with the puppy. The mother and daughter began to fight and other family members and bystanders got involved. Authorities say two people were injured when the woman used a knife to fend off people who were trying to take the puppy away.

Investigators say the dog belonged to a deceased relative.
