VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - A 42-year-old Vancouver, Wash., man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for a crash that killed his passenger last November in Lewis County.

The Columbian reports (https://is.gd/ISUxqs) that Jonathon Reno pleaded guilty last month in Lewis County Superior Court to one count of vehicular homicide. Police say he was intoxicated during the crash that killed 28-year-old Adam Newstrom.

Reno was sentenced Monday.

Deputy Prosecutor Brad Meagher says the 20-year sentence was a result of changes in vehicular homicide sentencing guidelines that went into effect in 2012, and Reno’s extensive criminal history.
