CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - City leaders in Cedar Rapids are expected to detail their plans to fix the potholes that have popped up all over the city this winter.

Mayor Ron Corbett is holding a news conference Tuesday to discuss how the city will address pothole issues, including the measures that its Public Works Department is already taking.

City Manager Jeff Pomeranz is expected to discuss how the city will use a recently passed local option sales tax to pay for a multiyear street repair campaign.

Across the country, cities are dealing with an influx of potholes, caused by a combination of deep freezes and rain this winter, as well as aging streets.
